Manchester City has finally signed Riyad Mahrez from Leicester City after a £60 Million transfer fee. Mahrez was the PFA player of the year in Leicester City’s Premiership triumph in 2016 after he scored 17 goals in 37 games.
Mahrez’s past two seasons in Leicester have been riddled with inconsistency as he became very unsettled after interest from bigger clubs caught his eye. The middle of last season was probably the height as Manchester City were so close to snapping him up but decided to pull out of the deal. However, Mahrez seems to be a prime target for Pep Guardiola’s City as they have ensured the Algerian winger will be part of the contingent at the Etihad for next the coming season.
Manchester City are aggressively looking to add more firepower to an already potent attack with Riyad Mahrez’s signing. It is a strong signal of intent for City to retain the Premier League and they certainly have drawn first blood amongst the top 6 in the English League.
