Melaye’s woes continue, Bukar Ibrahim in sex scandal, Murray-Bruce maintains top spot | YNaija Effectiveness Ranking for Senators

Senator Ben Murray-Bruce representing Bayelsa East Senatorial district has maintained the top position in this week’s YNaija Effectiveness Ranking for senators. Murray-Bruce dislodged Senate President Bukola Saraki last week from the top position. Bruce achieved this following his call on all agitators to be careful with their words and avoid overheating the polity.

Senator Buruji Kashamu representing Ogun East took the highest leap. Kashamu moved from the 38th position to the 17th. His rise followed his reaction to a statement by Ekiti governor, Ayodele Fayose. Speaking on the matter of President Buhari’s health, the senator described Fayose’s utterances as despicable.

He said, “It is unfair and condemnable for Fayose to continue playing God over the president’s health condition; his ridiculous comments are invariably heating up the polity and fanning the embers of disaffection amongst Nigerians.”

In the week under review the woes of Kogi West senator, Dino Melaye continued, as his constituents continued their demand for his recall.

The Senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial district, Shehu Sani dropped off the top twenty in the week under review. Sani who has in the past few months made attempts to declare his loyalty to President Buhari made a huge blunder when he tried to defend Buhari’s decision to speak to Nigerians in Hausa language in an audio message to celebrate the end of the Ramadan fast.

Sani said, “There’s nothing wrong with the President sending Sallah message in Hausa Language. He is on medical vacation. He has transferred power to the Acting President.” He added, “It is the Acting President that is bound to act ‘officially’ on state matters, including speaking in ‘Our official Language, English’.”

The worst of the lot is Senator Bukar Ibrahim, representing Yobe East. Ibrahim, who is a former governor of the state is caught on camera in a hotel room with two women. When asked on the tape, Ibrahim said he owed no one an explanation.

Senator George Sekibo representing Rivers East has been removed off the ranking as he was booted out of the Senate by the Election Tribunal during the week. His replacement, Andrew Uchendu makes his debut on the list in the 105th position.
