“Men of God who join in political campaigns are not wise” – Pastor Paul Adefarasin

by Mark Bassey

Founder and Senior Pastor of the House on the Rock churches, Pastor Paul Adefarasin, has slammed men of God, who are part of political campaigns ahead of the 2015 elections. The 53-year-old was reviewing last week’s screening of the movie Selma in the church.

Speaking before his Sunday sermon yesterday, Adefarasin told his congregation: “I must say to you that pastors who join in these political campaigns are not wise.”

The articulate preacher also insisted that “House on the Rock is not a partisan organisation or a political platform”, while maintaining that the pulpit is not the best avenue to take a stand or advise members on which party or candidates they must vote for.

“I don’t belong to APC and PDP. I don’t belong to any political party. I belong to Jesus party. I am interested in God’s agenda in Nigeria,” he added.

He also flayed the manner in which some of the political campaigns have been conducted, describing the desperation from the two leading parties as “sad and sorry”.
