The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party will not provide sureties for the bail-release of its National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh.

Metuh is being tried for collecting N400m from Sambo Dasuki, former National Security Adviser, who is believed to have diverted $2.1 billion meant for the purchase of arms.

While he has admitted to receiving the money to do a job for former President, Goodluck Jonathan, he has however, failed to state the exact nature of the assignment.

Consequently, the party has stated that it will not help Metuh based on the fact that it didn’t benefit from his alleged crime and also because he was being prosecuted for offences he committed on his own.

According to the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Abdullahi Jalo, the party’s spokesperson will have to look for his own sureties.

“Metuh didn’t represent the party in the alleged crimes he’s being prosecuted. The party didn’t benefit from the alleged crime.

“So, he is going to look for sureties himself. We won’t be involved. He would carry his own cross alone, without the party being involved.”
