Two persons, Lekan Ojaewele, 22, and Muyiwa Adeyemi, 20, have been killed by suspected cultists on Wednesday evening at Ajegunle-Ijada and Ishado areas of Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.
The victims were apprentices in the barbing and electronic businesses, it was further revealed that the killing was an accident as their bosses were the targets.
The Nation reports:
While Ojaewele was reportedly killed on his way to his boss’ shop by the cultists, Adeyemi was murdered while sleeping inside a shop belonging to his boss.
An eyewitness, who preferred anonymity, said the cult members came on motorcycles to launch the attacks.
Mr. Yemi Odukoya, the Head of an Ijebu-Ode vigilance group, said the victims died in retaliatory attacks launched over the killing a member of the Aye cult by the Eiye cult on Tuesday night.
He lamented the incessant killings in the town by cult groups, saying his security outfit could not do much due to limited resources.
The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the incident.
Adejobi, however, urged members of the community to assist the police with useful information that could lead to the arrest of the hoodlums.
