This is what the NAF will do with the Presidential helicopters

The Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Sadique Abubakar on Monday explained what the Nigerian Air Force will do with two helicopters handed over to it from the Presidential fleet.

Abubakar spoke at the official handover ceremony which took place at the presidential wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

The Presidency handed over two Agusta Westland AW101 helicopters to the Air Force.

Abubakar said one will be configured and deployed as an air ambulance, while the second will be deployed as a troop carrier.

“The two helicopters will be immediately reconfigured and deployed to the Northeast for the use of Nigerian troops.

“The Air Ambulance will carry a Trauma Unit to ensure that injured troops get immediate medical assistance during airlift,” Abubakar said.

He said the helicopters are “some of the most sophisticated, most comfortable and most equipped in the world.”
