#NYSCAbuse: Buhari, after nearly a week, is finally saddened by their deaths

President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered an independent investigation into the death of a corps member, Ifedolapo Oladepo who died in the Kano camp of the National Youth Service Corps.

Expressing his condolence on the death of three corp members, Buhari who reacted via his Twitter account on Wednesday urged the NYSC to do all it can to ensure the protection of lives of those under its care.

He wrote, “I’m saddened by the deaths of 3 NYSC members during the 2016 Batch ‘B’ Orientation. It is sad and unfortunate. May their souls rest in peace. Chinyerum Elechi, Ifedolapo Oladepo and Monday Asuquo Ukeme, who passed on in Bayelsa, Kano and Zamfara, died answering the call to serve Nigeria. In particular I have asked for an independent investigation into the actual circumstances behind the death in Kano of Miss Ifedolapo Oladepo. The Management of the NYSC must continue to do all within its powers to protect the lives of those under its charge.”

On Tuesday, the DG of the NYSC, Brigadier General Suleman Kazaure said Ifedolapo death’s was caused by an untreated infection.
