The Delaware state police has revealed that a 4-year-old girl took several packets of heroin to her day-care center, thinking it was candy, and shared it to other little children.
The backpack was filled with nearly 250 packets of heroin, which had the label ‘Slam’ on each of them.
The girl accidentally took the heroin to the day-care center, after she was given a different backpack by her mother because her backpack had been damaged by the family’s pet.
Police say that although none of the children opened the heroin packets, they were sent to the hospital as a precaution, but were later released after medical examination.
30-year-old Ashley Tull, the mother of the girl was charged with three counts of child endangerment and maintaining a drug property, and was subsequently arraigned on Monday, 6 October.
Tull was released on a $6,000 bond and was ordered not to have any contact with her children, who have been placed in the custody of a relative.
