The Peoples Democratic Party has described Edo State government’s proposed probe of former Governor Lucky Igbinedion, as political witch-hunting.
Igbinedion was accused of making $31million fraudulent withdrawal from the state’s coffers during his tenure as governor.
Edo State Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Chris Nehikhare, said at a press briefing on Thursday, that Governor’s Oshiomhole’s action reeks of desperation.
“It is shameful and disgraceful that it took the Adams Oshiomhole’s administration seven years to wake up from its slumber to begin what is clearly a case of political witch-hunting.”
“It is obvious that the Oshiomhole camp is piling up a strong financial war chest. In the last four months, he has received $75 million and N10 billion as loans and bailout funds to fight a last ditch battle to maintain and retain his stranglehold on Edo State,” he said.
