Nelson Mandela on fighting white supremacy, apartheid in his first ever TV interview (WATCH)

Former South African President, Nelson Mandela was well known for his anti-apartheid revolution in South Africa which led to his imprisonment for 27 years.

Mandela lent his voice against the supremacy of whites over black in South Africa at the time.

What is believed to be Mandela’s first TV interview in 1956 with a Dutch broadcaster, just before his trial has been released by the Nelson Mandela Foundation.

An interview Mandela gave in 1961 while in hiding in Johannesburg was previously believed to be his first television interview, but this recently released interview was conducted 5 years before.

In this video clip, Mandela spoke on white supremacy and apartheid rule in South Africa.

He said, “From the very beginning, the African National Congress set itself the task of fighting against white supremacy. We have always regarded as wrong for one racial group to dominate another racial group.

The African National Congress has fought, without hesitation, against all forms of racial discrimination and we shall continue to do so until freedom is achieved.”

Mandela became the President of South Africa in 1994 and ruled till 1999.

Nelson Mandela died in 2013, at the age of 95.
