Speedmeals Kitchen to launch job fairs for the unemployed

The CEOs of Speedmeals Kitchen Limited, Titus and Tobias Igwe, have launched the Yeast Project, a sustainable job creation initiative developed to assist and empower young unemployed people in securing gainful employment as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility to address the high rising youth unemployment in Nigeria. The project will involve a Seminar series, Mega Conference, and a Job Fair. These events are scheduled to hold in Lagos from May 2016 to July 2016. The seminars will round up with a mega conference in August, followed by a massive job fair. Admission is free.

The job fair will hold at the following locations:

Surulere Job Fair: May 17, 2016.
Apapa Job Fair: May 24 – May 31, 2016
Lekki Job Fair: June 7 – 14, 2016
Yaba Job Fair: June 21 – 28, 2016
Ikeja Job Fair: July 12 – 19, 2016

This Project will be first of its kind in Nigeria as the fair will offer individuals the opportunity to connect with employers offering full time and part time positions, as well as a chance to tap into volunteering opportunities and community connections.
The objective of these events is to be life transforming by connecting everyone who participates with a job opportunity.

According to the coordinator of the Yeast Project, Louisa Dike, a Human Resource expert: “This project is timely. We aim to support job seekers by opening their eyes to opportunities existing around them, so that they can explore, become gainfully employed, and stop waiting for non existing white collar jobs.”

CEOs of top organisations, multi national firms, start ups looking to increase their organisation, and entrepreneurs will be present at each job fair to inspire the unemployed before introducing them to available job opportunities. There will also be various vendors present to interview prospective employees graduates and non- graduates including those with specialised skills such as Chefs, Marketers, and ICT etc. There will also be opportunities for organisations interested in exhibiting their products to book exhibition stands at all the fairs.

“We expect to reach about 10,000 participants to attend these job fairs,” said Tobias Igwe, Co-Founder of the Yeast project. “We have many talented and experienced people who want to connect with employers and learn about opportunities, while others are looking for ways to get connected to NGOs or communities through volunteer positions. We are providing a platform to connect to these opportunities because we know Nigerians are not lazy people.”
