Nigerian billionaire, Walter Wagbatsoma have been accused of travelling to Europe, despite the seizure of his international passport by the court.
Wagbatsoma alongside Adaoha Ugo-Ngadi, Fakuade Babafemi Ebenezer and their company, Ontario Oil and Gas Nigeria Limited were arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for allegedly obtaining the sum of N340,000,000 by false pretence from the Federal Government.
In the proceeding before Justice Lateefat Okunnu of the Lagos State High court on Friday, the prosecuting counsel, Rotimi Jacobs said despite the court being in possession of the first defendant’s international passport, he still travelled out of the country to four countries namely, France, Switzerland, Netherlands and Germany with four different passports claiming to be critically ill without informing the court.
He prayed the court to continue proceedings, claiming that the defendant has absconded from justice.
The defendants counsel, Mr. Onyeke however denied the allegations, stating that his client merely travelled to Germany for medical treatment.
The Judge adjourned proceedings till October 14.
