After 36 days, the Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU) has finally suspended its strike.

The ASUU President, Prof Biodun Ogunyemi, made the announcement in Abuja late Monday. He said the union was suspending the strike until the end of October for the Federal Government to fulfill its promises.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released an amended timetable for the recall process of Kogi senator Dino Melaye, as ordered by the Federal High Court, Abuja.

The commission said it will conduct verification of signatures for the recall of Dino Melaye on October 14, and has fixed Oct. 5 as the last day for the submission of applications by observers.

INEC said, “sufficient time has been provided for the senator to study the petition and accompanying materials to effectively prepare for the verification.”

In Abia State, the Nigerian Police have arraigned seven suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) for alleged murder and arson.

The magistrate, Ogbonna Adiele, ordered that the accused persons should be remanded in the Aba prison and adjourned the case till September 27, 2017.

Meanwhile, the whereabouts of the IPOB secessionist group leader, Nnamdi Kanu, and his parents have remained unknown since the alleged attack on his residence in Aba, Abia.

An IPOB spokesperson said in a statement, “We the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, world wide under the leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu wish to bring to the notice of the whole world that the whereabouts of our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and his parents are still unknown to mankind since the attack in his compound last week.”

The ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC), has reportedly begun a tour of states in the South-south zone to mobilise support for the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government and the party ahead of the 2019 general elections.

The Zonal Publicity Secretary of the APC, Martins Mukoro said the tour would also afford the party an opportunity to reconcile all aggrieved members in the various state chapters to enhance the party’s unity for 2019.
