The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dissolved the executive of the Kwara chapter.

National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and its National Secretary, Mai Mala Buni who announced this in Abuja after the NWC meeting on Monday, said “The NWC at its meeting of 30th July 2018, examined the unfolding developments within the party in Kwara state.

“The committee also reviewed the actions of some leaders of the party that emerged from the above congress who participated in an open rally calling on the senate president to decamp to the PDP,” the notice read.

It added that, “Hon. Bashir Bolarinwa shall and is hereby appointed as the chairman of the caretaker committee of the state executive committee of APC in Kwara state. This shall take immediate effect.”


Nineteen lawmakers in the Benue House of Assembly on Monday announced the suspension of seven All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmakers in the house, following the impeachment notice they served on the Governor.

The lawmakers who are members of the PDP during their plenary at the old banquet hall of the Government House in Makurdi, suspended the 7 APC lawmakers for court contempt and for holding illegal plenary, citing a disregard of the restraining order against the former speaker, Terkimbi Ikyange and his executives.


The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has linked Benue Governor, Samuel Ortom to an alleged fraud to the tune of N22bn.

The anti-graft body is also said to be investigating 21 members of the Benue House of Assembly for allegedly diverting N375m meant for the procurement of vehicles that would be used for oversight functions.

The allegations are contained in a report of an investigation which began in 2016 but was made available to a PUNCH correspondent on Monday.


The Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation Lafiya Dole on Monday attacked a Boko Haram settlement at Tongule village, 9km South West of Dikwa in Borno.

According to a statement by the NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Vice Marshal Olatokunbo Adesanya, said that the successful air strikes were immediately planned and executed to prevent the Boko Haram Terrorists from carrying out attacks against troops’ locations in the general area.

“As a result of the air strikes, several BHTs were neutralized in the village while a few survivors, seen fleeing the location, were taken out in subsequent follow-up attacks.

“There was also intensive damage to the settlement as captured by the NAF Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) platform,”  part of the statement read


The Imo House of Assembly has confirmed the nomination of Calistus Ekenze, as the new Deputy Governor of the state, following Monday’s impeachment of the former Deputy governor, Eze Madumere.

The confirmation was after the Majority leader of the House, Mr. Lugard Osuji, moved the motion for the adoption of Ekenze, as Madumere’s replacement.

Ekenze who hails from Mbaitoli local government area, same as the impeached deputy governor, was until his nomination the Head of the Imo Civil service.
