[The Injustice Blog] Is the President still holding on to 97% & 5%?

Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari at the inception of his administration once made a Freudian slip while speaking at the US Institute of peace.

He made it categorically clear that he won’t treat individuals that gave him 97% votes equally with those that gave him 5% votes. In reality, 97% and 5% don’t add up to 100 but we accept his mathematical expression.

The statement was his first salvo at the Southern region that voted immensely for former President Goodluck Jonathan but, despite emerging as a winner of the highly contentious election, the President is yet to move on from a candidate to a winner as he still exhibits actions that show him as an individual still contesting an election and not one that has won the election.

Several actions of the President has shown that he is still holding on to the 97% and 5% narrative instead of uniting his supporters and opposers to build a viable Nigeria. The President has consistently shown actions that can be tagged a pro-North agenda since his military days, majority of which was used to campaign against him in 2015 but, Nigerians still gave him that benefit of the doubt as we believed he is a changed man.

From his appointments and other decisions, it has been laced with various controversy. Recruitment into federal parastatals has been skewed in favour of the North at the detriment of other regions in the country and the President has failed to address such inadequacies.

Even while he was incommunicado for his medical treatment in the UK, when he decided to break his silence, President Buhari chose to speak to Nigerians in Hausa, a language that is only understood by people of the North.

97% and 5% won’t develop Nigeria, what we need is one Nigeria irrespective of the Percentage.
