The Benue State House of Assembly complex was on Thursday shut down over intensive plot by the lawmakers to impeach the speaker, Terhile Ayua and Governor Gabriel Suswam.

The lawmakers, including members of All Progressives Congress (APC) and the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) had held an emergency session on Wednesday to collect signatures so as to impeach the speaker.

The action of the assembly members is hinged on the speakers’ alleged inability to defend their welfare before the executive arm of government hence their salaries were owed and that the speaker also connived with the governor, without the consent of members to approve and assent the bills for revenue administration and chieftaincy appointment.
