Every day on the Nigerian internet, there are people who keep our eyes glued to our phone screens as we read their rants, opinions, perspectives on political and social matters, etc. Sometimes, they are just downright ridiculous. We make it our job to take down the names of these noisemakers.
Here’s our list from today:
1 @Yemzine
2019 – And Nigerians decide to replace Buhari………….with Atiku / El-Rufai ???♂️ pic.twitter.com/A0LxqiEcpR
— Daddy (@Yemzine) September 7, 2017
Best pictorial imagery.
Yes, since Mama Taraba- our able Minister for Women Affairs- publicly declared for Atiku, TwitterNG has been on fire.
2. Mark Essien
The entrepreneur did not miss a beat when he point blank trumpeted: “Atiku would be the worst thing to happen to Nigeria”.
Of course, TwitterNG came for him, clubs and daggers swinging. Oh, and Atiku took down a peg & 10 some tweep who thought to smear his name with unsubstantiated claims. There’s been a lot of theatrics on Political Twitter today, and it’s just beginning. Catch all the action here.
3. Feyi Fawehinmi
Whilst Mark Essien was leading TwitterNG to say no to Atiku 2019, Feyi Fawehinmi was at the front of the pack, urging Nigerians to say yes to President El Rufai, all because he’s “partial to El Rufai”.
This time around, Twitter pulled out his 2015 APC receipts. They did quite a number on him, forcing him to do a 360 and apologise. You tell me whether his apology rings true.
Oya I'm sorry ehn – please put Buhari and Atiku on the ballot. Don't put El-Rufai on it at all, even as councillor. Make una no vex o
— tyro (@DoubleEph) September 7, 2017
Ikechukwu thinks Feyi is a “hireling”
4. Ebube
Ebube and many PDP supporters have someone else in mind for 2019:
My ideal ticket will be Dankwambo/Obi
Had to restate this so that comparison on Atiku and Buhari won't be misconstrued as support for Atiku
— Ebube D Statesman (@akaebube) September 7, 2017
5. Cheta Nwanze
Cheta is disinterested in who should or should not be a 2019presidential contender- for now. He’s more interested in the powers that be that can turn things on a dime. In this administration, that will be Saraki.
He did a whole thread about it. We titled it “Saraki will change the game in 2019”.
Get a front row seat, guys.
6. Charles
There’s a whiff of disappointment wafting out from Charles’ thoughts as he ponders what in the world we are doing fielding candidates like El Rufai and Atiku for 2019
It isn't surprising Buhari's minister threw him under the bus.
While Atiku is learned and a successful biz man, Buhari is just vacuous.
— Charles the 1st (@9jaBloke) September 7, 2017
But then again, it speaks volumes of our mentality as Nigerians, that we'd be discussing Buhari and Atiku as options for the 2019 elections.
— Charles the 1st (@9jaBloke) September 7, 2017
While Buhari has been catastrophic & cataclysmic as expected, and should be consigned to the dustbin of history, age isn't on Atiku's side.
— Charles the 1st (@9jaBloke) September 7, 2017

Are we expected to trust the judgment of a man that enthusiastically campaigned and voted for Buhari, when he was an option in a ballot? ??? https://t.co/ER5whoRh7o
— Adetutu Balogun (@Tutsy22) September 7, 2017
Age aside, Atiku's track record speaks against him
— Ob!wan (@KaptainObiwan) September 7, 2017
Nothing diminishes the capability of @atiku to be president of Nigeria. He is nothing less than anyone who ever ruled.
— MY SCARS, MY VICTORIES (@MIKEACHIMUGU1) September 7, 2017
Since OBJ couldn't nail @atiku wen the PTDF saga broke out. Atiku has bin 1 of d very few dat Ive come to respect . Except 4 his "jumpology"

What is the essence of the #NotTooYoungToRun bill if I'm still going under the sun to vote for Atiku. Pls tell me ?.You want 2nd chance abi? pic.twitter.com/Njgr8Pz2w4
— Adebanjo Lateef (@theadebanjo) September 7, 2017
We are here talking of @MBuhari and @atiku for 2019. This men are yesterday men. Let's talk of @Donald_Duke and Peter Obi of our time.
— PHOENIX (Solo Ogbonna (@soezea) September 7, 2017
7. Alfred
It’s not yet 2019 and we already have catchy political expressions at hand. This one was made popular by Feyi. It’s called “filter”. Brother was simply saying people should filter the candidates coming through, namely Buhari and Atiku.
People can only vote for what you put in front of them so you will always need the political system to do some serious filtering
— tyro (@DoubleEph) September 6, 2017
Make no mistake, the battle lines are being drawn already and it’s party against party (in other words, APC Vs PDP). So when it seemed that Feyi was going to do great damage to the image of Atiku, the opposition came out to disclose the inside game.
Fellow Nigerians, they've come again. They’ll feign neutrality. They'll do long threads masking their real dubious intentions in verbosity!
— Chuba Ugwu (@chonsyy) September 7, 2017
Charles dont fall for this line.Lumping Atiku & Buhari as non-options is the strategy for demarketing Atiku from the Kaduna support whatsapp
— King Alfred (@KingDouyeAlfred) September 7, 2017
Those telling you to "filter out names" you shouldn't consider for 2019
Note the names they aren't calling
They're working for those names
— King Alfred (@KingDouyeAlfred) September 6, 2017
We have heard this "filter out names that shouldn't be an option" before (2015 anyone)
It's an old campaign strategy with new words
— King Alfred (@KingDouyeAlfred) September 6, 2017
Campaign for 2019 has started
The "GEJ is not an option" playbook has been rolled out – This time, it's called "filter"

The Hawks have gathered and their Prey is Clear. Fighting the Hawks is good, but Becoming an Eagle in our own Choices is Better.
— Demola Olarewaju (@DemolaRewaju) September 7, 2017
In 2019, use ur own Brain to 'filter' candidates based on track record, education etc DON'T let expired APC overlords from 2015 do it for U.
— Mr Stanley Nwabia (@MrStanleyNwabia) September 7, 2017
@APCNigeria must never smell the walls of @AsoRock again, not in the near future.
The disgrace will last beyond this generation. https://t.co/22iveP6TSb— BRIGGS HUGO (@MACBRIGGS) September 7, 2017
Toh!
8. Afrispheric
Nigerians are speaking up against an El Rufai presidency. People remember how the governor of Kaduna state handled the Southern Kaduna herdsmen crisis, not to mention the way he blabbed about Jonathan, accusing him of all sorts.
According to @afrispheric, El Rufai is not what Nigeria needs. They break down what Nigeria needs below- it’s a tall order.
A pathological liar labeled an ENTIRE ethnic group Boko Haram agents & accused Christians as a type of Boko Haram will never earn my support
— afrispheric (@afrispheric) September 7, 2017
Exhibit:
What NGR needs in 2019 aside economic competence, is a man or woman that is tolerant enough to facilitate a healing process across NGR
— afrispheric (@afrispheric) September 7, 2017
NGR is broken after 2015, yet y'all want to sell a man that will further fragment it with his warped worldview?
Not going to happen
— afrispheric (@afrispheric) September 7, 2017
Nigeria's ideal candidate in 2019 MUST be a unifier, a nation healer and nation builder, someone that genuinely does not hold grudges.
— Mr Stanley Nwabia (@MrStanleyNwabia) September 7, 2017
"Above all of this, to avoid the mistakes of 2015, he MUST be a competent administrator." ?☕ https://t.co/uWNNuwhcWE

@MrStanleyNwabia sound health too biko…some degree of education…oh and oh has to face the debate, no Chatham house hiding.

— Nwankosi (@nwankosi247) September 7, 2017
The next president's first point of call should be to heal Nigerians
Make us feel like one again

9. Adeniran
Based on the criteria Stanley and others have produced for Nigeria’s next president, some Nigerians can see Peter Obi, Dankwambo and Lamido fitting the mould, others think we are on a long tin.
See below:
Dakwambo/Peter Obi ticket would be a match
— Endyclassical (@OdiliNdubuisi) September 7, 2017
Yea age for Dankwambo, political spread and experience for Lamido and Turaki, age is just but one of the variables at play here
— Obinna Ogadah (@OgadahObinna) September 7, 2017
Dankwambo n duke ticket might be nice or someone younger
— The Abbanogu Times (@AbbanoguTimes) September 7, 2017
I love Lamido but if he supports Dankwambo, a tested performer, I will support him. Tambuwal? He is not a visionary. We need a builder. https://t.co/6E7E24exeH
— Omooba (@AAtobs) September 7, 2017
10. Salihu Umar
So the story continues tomorrow….
@kebram all of you should come and finish the Atiku, El-Rufai, Kwankwasiyya exchanges & Bubu yace Abubakar Malami (SAN) yake so ????
— Salihu Umar (@Salihu_umar) September 7, 2017
LMFAOOOOOOOO these herdsmedia boys will hold extensive meetings to restrategize on top of today's Atiku's tweets ???
— Ndi Kato (@YarKafanchan) September 7, 2017
That you can bet on.
