NCC vows to cracks down on Starlink over unsanctioned price hike

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has vowed to take action against Elon Musk’s Starlink for the unsanctioned increase in subscription prices for Nigerians from ₦38,000 to ₦75,000.
The NCC’s action comes after they were called out for their double standards, allowing Starlink to increase its price but cracking down on other network providers like MTN, Airtel and Glo.
According to Dr. Reuben Muoka, NCC’s Director of Public Affairs, Starlink’s action goes against Sections 108 and 111 of the Nigerian Communications Act, 2003, and its licence conditions regarding tariffs.
“The decision by Starlink to unilaterally review their subscription packages upwards did not receive the approval of the Nigerian Communications Commission,” he said.
FG proposes six-month supply for Dangote Refinery

The federal government has announced that the supply of crude oil to Dangote Refinery by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) in Naira will only last six months till there is a review by the Technical Sub-Committee on Domestic Sales of Crude Oil in Local Currency.
Statements from the committee and Dangote Refinery have affirmed that this report is accurate. The NNPCL will only provide oil to Dangote Refinery in Nigerian currency for six months in its first phase because the imported crude oil is paid for in dollars.
According to a Bloomberg report, the Federal Government will deliver about 400,000 barrels of Nigerian crude oil to Dangote Refinery daily. It will extend for two months, totalling 24 million barrels of Nigerian crude oil delivered to Dangote Refinery.
Delta Air Lines set to begin direct flights from Lagos to New York in December

Delta Air Lines, one of the USA’s oldest airlines and seventh oldest airline in the world, has announced that it will begin taking flights from Lagos State to New York starting December 2024.
The airline stated that to do this, it would need to reinvent itself from the Airbus330-200, which carries 223 passengers, to the Airbus330-900neo, which is spacious and can accommodate about 281 passengers.
Delta Air Line’s Head of Sales for West Africa, Mary Gbobaniyi, said she was excited that this new development would be remarkable as there would now be more flights in Nigeria.
Rivers State unsafe as LG secretariats burn down after election

Rivers State has been a hot seat since the feud between its governor, Siminalayi Fubara and the Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike began.
Shortly after local government elections took place in the state, violence was demonstrated in the state’s local government secretariats, as three LG secretariats were burned down.
A newly built secretariat at Isiokpo in the Ikwerre local government was set ablaze. The burning trend began when the police commissioner withdrew the police officers protecting the 23 council secretariats.
Tinubu orders more security in Rivers State as he instructs rivals to settle in court

President Bola Tinubu has warned that political rivals should take their battles to court and settle there as Rivers State has descended into a region of insecurity and political war between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Wike.
The President was worried about people committing arson and destroying public offices, so he asked all political leaders to rein in their followers and supporters.
The information was spread by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, who said that the President hinted that the judiciary is capable of resolving all political rivalry.
