An Indian bride, Dr. Jaishri Namdeo, 29, was shot dead during her wedding on Thursday by a cousin, Anurag Singh, who believed she had “cheated” on him.
Namdeo was standing with her groom onstage in the city of Bhopal when her cousin allegedly stormed up the aisle and shot her at point-blank range.
Singh, who had entered the wedding disguised as a photographer, then attempted to shoot himself but missed and grazed a nearby guest, allowing witnesses to tackle him to the ground.
He was disarmed and violently beaten until police arrived.
Namdeo, a pediatrician, died later in hospital from a single wound to the neck.
