A 35-year-old woman, Oduwa Egbenayabuwa on Thursday was sentenced to two years imprisonment for assaulting some police officers by an Oredo Magistrates’ Court in Benin.
Prosecutor, Patrick Agbonifo said Oduwa committed the offence on October 31, 2015 when she assaulted Isaikpere Alfred, a police inspector.
Oduwa had slapped the Inspector on his back while performing his duties.
She was also said to have ruffled and tore the uniform of another officer, Wose Azubike.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 356(2) of the Criminal Code Cap. 48 Vol. 11, Laws of the defunct Bendel State of Nigeria, 1976, now applicable in Edo.
The Chief Magistrate, Rachael Ogbevoen, convicted the accused with an option of N30,000 fine after finding her guilty.
