A Nigerian woman was found on Monday with a stash of heroin at an American airport. Afolake Awoyemi, who previously claimed she was three months pregnant was discovered at JFK Airport in New York to be carrying a stash of heroin.
The woman had reportedly just disembarked from an Air France flight from Paris and was asked if she was pregnant, to which she said yes, Homeland Security special agent John Moloney stated in a complaint filed in Brooklyn Federal Court.
A bulge was then noticed in Awoyemi’s groin area which led officers to conduct a partial strip-search. Pellets of brown powder, which were later proven to be heroin, then began to drop from her groin area. X-rays were also conducted, revealing the woman had more heroin pellets stashed in her intestinal tract.
She allegedly passed about 25 pellets of heroin by the end of the day, using a special high-tech commode that sanitises the incriminating evidence, which customs officials refer to as the ‘Drug Loo’.
A pregnancy test was also administered, the result of which proved she was not expecting.
The drugs were allegedly worth $20,000.
