According to reports, Manchester United Executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward, was in Cardiff last night for the UEFA Super Cup between Real Madrid and Sevilla, to open talks for the transfer of Angel Di Maria.
Former United managers Sir Alex Ferguson and David Moyes, have both tried to sign the Argentina international without success and last week, new coach Louis van Gaal hailed the 26-year-old as one of the best wingers in the world.
Di Maria was close to joining Paris Saint-Germain, before the Ligue 1 champions pulled out of negotiations because they considered the Argentine “too expensive.
United would have to pay as much as £50m for Di Maria, who might be ready to quit Madrid this season after the arrival of James Rodriguez.
