Zuckerberg says Facebook will embrace more Nigerian languages

The Founder of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, who is currently in Nigeria has pledged to include more Nigerian languages on the platform.

He said this on Wednesday, during a meeting with software developers and ICT entrepreneurs in Lagos.

Zuckerberg said the platform will add more Nigerian languages to the Hausa language which has already been allowed.

“I am glad we support Hausa and we are planning on supporting a lot more languages soon.’’

Zuckerberg said more local contents on Facebook will ensure that more people become interested in the application.

According to him, there are many talented developers and entrepreneurs in Nigeria.

“Thanks for such a warm welcome. There are so many talented people here. I am excited to get a chance to meet some of them.

“This is my first trip to sub-Saharan Africa. I will be meeting with developers and entrepreneurs and learning about the start-up ecosystem in Nigeria.

“The energy here is amazing and I’m excited to learn as much as I can,’’ he said.
