Between 1999 and 2015, the Peoples Democratic Party was the biggest political party in Nigeria, yet it never won all the states of the federation.
That was a time when the party was at its peak and in control of the center, while other opposition parties struggled for relevance, save for the Action Congress of Nigeria which controlled a few states.
In 2016, when power has changed hands and the All Progressives Congress now controls the federal government – the Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa has a pipe dream.
Governor Okowa believes that his party – the PDP – will win the 36 states of the federation in the next general election.
“We are confident that going into the future, we will win all the states of the federation.”
“We must continue to build consensus, we must be able to build friendship and ensure that every voice is heard; we have always won elections in Delta State but we cannot go to sleep.”
What now: We wait till 2019 to see if Okowa’s herculean aspiration will come to fruition.
