President Goodluck Jonathan’s visit to Lagos has led to traffic congestion on major roads within and around the island.

The president is in Lagos to begin his presidential campaign rally at Tafawa Balewa Square.

Following the cordoning of the roads leading to the venue by armed soldiers and police, hundreds of commuters were left stranded between the Oworonshoki Expressway and Victoria Island.

While Third Mainland Bridge and many roads in Victoria Island, are on a complete standstill, a ripple effect of the traffic has led to congestion on other roads within the metropolis.

The campaign rally of the Peoples Democratic Party is expected to be attended by the party’s governors, delegates, aspirants and thousands of supporters.
