The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has denied a statement credited to Imo state governor, Rocha’s Okorocha, that its leader, Nnamdi Kanu once insulted Igbo leaders during his struggle.

Okorocha had on Sunday urged President Muhammadu Buhari to release Kanu, while receiving Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo at the Imo Airport.

He had reportedly said, “What he is agitating for is what others are agitating for too. But he is using the wrong language and insulting leaders, including myself. But this is the time for national reconciliation.”

But IPOB in a statement by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful described Okorocha’s claim as false.

The statement read in part, “It is well known to everyone in Nigeria that they don’t like to hear simple truth and other things that are eating deep into the contraption called Nigeria.

“Nnamdi Kanu propagates the truth to the whole world and people with good conscience around the globe understand this, thus he was nicknamed the prophet of our time because almost his teachings and prophecies on Radio Biafra have come to pass.

“He prophesied that the APC led by President Muhammadu Buhari was coming to Islamise the country in the guise of herdsmen and that they would be getting support from their people in the Nigerian security agencies especially soldiers who will protect them.

“Today the Islamic agenda is ongoing in the country without any hindrance. Since the killings in Agatu, Benue State; Uzouwani, Enugu State; Southern Kaduna and the killing of unarmed peaceful members of IPOB, there was no official pronouncement against the killings from the Nigeria government and the APC.

“These murderous agents in the guise of herdsmen in every part of the country, killing people, raping women and girls and destroying farmlands everyday without any arrest have proved Nnamdi Kanu right.”
