Before Buhari heads to China, here are 2 things Nigerians want from him

From Niger Republic to the United States of America, President Muhammadu Buhari has made not less than 26 trips overseas since his inauguration in May 2015.

In spite of the criticisms trailing his frequent trips, the Presidency has repeatedly stated that the President’s journeys are aimed at boosting the country’s foreign relations.

President Buhari, who returned to Nigeria from his trip to the United States on Monday morning, is also set to embark on a 4-day state visit to the Peoples’ Republic of China from April 11 to 15.

But just before the President jets out in a week’s time, Nigerians are in desperate need of succour on these 2 pertinent issues.

1. Fuel Scarcity

Although an April 7 deadline has been set by the Department of Petroleum Resources for the end of the prevalent chronic fuel scarcity in the country, the long queues still remain visible 3 days to the expiration of this so called deadline.

As such, Nigerians would be counting on the President to find ways of putting an end to the fuel scarcity situation which has gripped major cities across the country.

2. Power

President Buhari’s appointment of the former Lagos state governor, Babatunde Fashola as the Minister of Power got quite a lot of positive and optimistic feedback from the public.

However 7 months down the line, the power sector is in a turmoil.

A recent report by Punch Newspapers, stated that no power generation company in Nigeria produced a single megawatt of electricity last week Thursday.

The power sector critically needs a fix.
