We have plans to stop pipeline bombing, kidnappings – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has revealed that the government has initiated plans to totally stop the sabotage of oil facilities and kidnapping of citizens for ransom in the Niger Delta region of the country.

Premium Times reported that the president revealed this at a meeting with a delegation from the United States Institute of Peace in Abuja on Monday, February 15.

President Buhari also said his government is giving highest consideration to the resettlement of the people displaced by terrorism as well as the rehabilitation of infrastructure in the North East.

The president told the delegates that the fight against corruption which is ongoing in the country, would only be fought within he purview of the law- while also intimating that steps had been taken to ensure the respect for human rights in the fight against terrorism.

According to Garba Shehu, the presidential spokesperson, the president said: “We attach great importance to human rights. If there are breaches, they will be investigated and dealt with.”

President Buhari also said that the international support the United States and Europe have offered in the fight to end the insurgent’s actions in the country are appreciated.

The leader of the Institute’s delegation, Nancy Lindborg praised the advancement made by the Buhari led government in creating a more secure society for Nigerians.

She assured the resident of the Institute’s continued support for the reconstruction and development work going on in the country.
