Former Minister of Education, Obiageli Ezekwesili, has lashed out at Assistant Inspector-General of Poilce, Joseph Mbu, over his recent comments where he urged Police officers to shoot 20 civilians for every one of them killed during the forthcoming general elections.
The Convener of the #BringBackOurGirls group on Saturday, February 28, criticized the utterances of Mbu, via micro-blogging platform, Twitter saying “people like AIG Mbu cannot be the face & voice of the Police.”

Among several other tweets, Ezekwesili stated that in “due course” when Nigeria’s “nascent democracy climbs higher on the maturity ladder”, Mbu and his likes would be made to face the law for their actions and comments. She also gave him a ‘free’ counsel to stop “being carried away” by his relationship with the First Lady, Mrs. Patience Jonathan as he is only responsible to the Nigeria people.

Watched AIG of Police-Mbu struggling to “clarify” that most offensive statement an officer of Security establishment could make. I shrugged.

When in due course our nascent Democracy climbs higher on the maturity ladder; people like AIG Mbu cannot be the face & voice of the Police.

What is sickening though is that AIG Mbu may not even have received a CAUTION from his bosses for yet one more of his serial noxious acts.

If AIG Mbu is not sent into Democracy Assimilation program as quickly as possible , the system does both him &Nigeria injustice. #HelpAIGMbu

There is no context that permits a police officer (Snr) in the land to threaten extra judicial killing. That’s what AIG Mbu did. #Terrible!

My free advice, AIG Mbu is this. It is not yet late to stop “being carried away”. WE are in a Democracy & it is FOUNDED on The Rule of Law.

Talking&acting like an “imperial majesty” because you may have a Direct Line to the Presidency is unwise. WE, the Citizens PAY YOU to serve.

The IG of @PoliceNG should get AIG Mbu to PUBLICLY sign a PEACE ACCORD with the Public that he serves. He has created too much DISCORD.

AIG Mbu “loves” his officers so much &yet 30 officers that were abducted from Gwoza seven months ago are still missing with NO WORD on them?

We really miss Gani Fawehinmi. He would have helped us show AIG Mbu EVERYDAY how to respect The Rule of Law. I so so miss Gani.
