Fellow Nigerians, below are 7 pertinent stories you didn’t read yesterday… but should really have.
1. Steal from the house of the Lord… and die.
When three armed robbers went to steal N954,000 church offering, from St James’ Cathedral Bishops’ Court, Igarra, Edo state,- two out of them never knew would end up dead, and the third robber probably never thought he’d snitch on his collaborators.
The dead pair were killed by the police while trying to escape interrogation.
2. Finance Ministry and Nigerian Navy differ on stolen crude oil figure.
Exactly what is the figure of the barrels of crude oil being stolen daily?
We are confused, as different figures have been released by the Nigerian Navy and the Ministry of Finance.
Maybe they are confused as well.
3. Hold on a minute, Elechi can’t be impeached just yet.
Ebonyi state governor, Martins Elechi, can heave a temporary sigh of relief as impeachment proceedings against him have been stalled.
Justice John Igboji of the Abakaliki High Court granted an interlocutory injunction restraining the Ebonyi State House of Assembly from proceeding with any impeachment processes against Elechi.
4. Nigeria is susceptible to several Ebola-like epidemics.
The chatter about Ebola may be abating but another epidemic may just be waiting to take its place.
According to a charity group, Save the Children’, 30 countries around the world are “highly vulnerable” to an Ebola-style epidemic, with Somalia, Chad, Nigeria, Afghanistan and Haiti most at risk.
5. Police, judiciary shifting the buck on street cultism.
No one wants to take the blame for the reign of street cultists on the streets of Bariga, Ketu, Mushin, and other similar areas.
6. Synagogue church foundation was indeed faulty.
After months of intrigues at the coroner’s inquest, a structural engineer has testified that the collapsed Synagogue building had a faulty foundation.
7. Face your job and leave Buhari alone.
APC has told Ayo Fayose to stop dabbling into the affairs of Buhari, and start minding the business of his state… which he was elected for.
The APC in Ekiti state says: “After five months, the stories of debts profile still dominate the public space instead of unveiling his development programmes. What we have is frequent shuttling between the capitals of the Far East countries and a reversal of development efforts of the immediate past administration of Governor Kayode Fayemi.”
