A former Governor of Oyo, Adebayo Alao-Akala, has lost his driver after the latter was shot and killed by unidentified gunmen yesterday.

Alhaji Alabi Ajikobi was said to have just stepped out of a bank when he was felled by the bullets of his assailants.

This comes just days after another former Governor of Oyo, Rasheed Ladoja lost his son Adebola in a freak car accident in Lagos.

Nigerian Eye reports:

Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, Olabisi Okuwobi-Ilobanafor, who confirmed the incident, said the deceased must have been attacked by armed robbers.

She said, “It is true that a man was killed by suspected armed robbers in Ibadan. We learnt that he went to a bank to collect some money. On his way, a man stopped him and had some discussion with him. Then, two men on a bike shot him and took the money from him.

“We are on the trail of the man that stopped him. We have begun investigation into the matter.”

Attempt to reach the former governor by our correspondent was not successful as his telephone was busy.
