22-year-old cobbler nabbed for threatening people with a toy gun

Taofeek Aina, a 22-year-old cobbler has been arraigned for using a toy gun to threaten members of the public.

Aina appeared before a Magistrates’ court sitting in Ikorodu Magistrates on Tuesday, 14 October.

He was arraigned before Magistrate B.A. Sonuga on a two-count charge of breach of peace and possession of arms.

According to the police prosecutor, Inspector Iyabo Johnson, Aina was caught with the toy gun while threatening innocent citizens around 6 pm on 7 October, at Benson Bus-Stop, in Ikorodu.

Johnson added that his actions caused panic to members of the public, an offence which contravened Sections 166 (d) and 327 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State.

However, Mrs Bunmi Alli, Aina’s lawyer, urged the court to admit her client to bail on liberal terms.

Judge Sonuga granted Aina bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum, after which she adjourned the case till 6 November for mention.
