Nowhere to hide: Fifty members of #BokoHaram nabbed on the run

by James Sambo

Nigerian troops have arrested 50 fleeing members of the Boko Haram sect in Biu local government of Borno state. The insurgents, who were hidden in a truck, were travelling from the Damboa axis of the state to Gombe.

According to a security source, the suspects confessed to being fighters of the Islamic sect, Boko Haram who are on the run following the killing of their leader in a battle at Konduga town of Konduga local government area of Borno state last week.

The source said some youth vigilante groups in Biu suspected the truck carrying sheep and goats might have other things hidden in it, which prompted them to search the vehicle, where 50 young men were discovered.

The arrested men confessed to being fighters of the Boko Haram Islamic sect, who were on the run following the reported killing of their leader, Abubakar Shekau, by the military at Konduga last week.

The suspects reportedly pleaded for mercy and also promised to cooperate with security operatives by giving them useful information on the location of other sect members on the run, and details about other groups holding the Chibok girls.

The arrested Boko Haram insurgents are reportedly in the custody of the Nigerian Army and might have been detained at the Biu barrack.
