Abductors of Ondo princess demand N20million ransom, state university is shut down

Princess Toyin Omosowon’s abductors have demanded a N20 million ransom.

Omosowon is the regent of Akungba Akoko in Ondo state. She was abducted with three of her aides on Tuesday by six persons along Akure/Akungba-Akoko expressway. They were on their way to the palace after attending an inaugural lecture delivered by the Vice Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Professor Igbekele Ajibefun.

The university is situated in the Akungba Akoko town.

Vanguard reported that her abductors are discussing with the family and the community.

A source, who spoke in confidence, said: “That is their asking price, but we have informed them that the amount is on the high side. We are still talking and we hope they will see reason and ask for a reasonable amount. They did not even allow us to speak with the traditional ruler.”

Security operatives are still investigating. Meanwhile the Adekunle Ajasin University management have shut down the institution following rumours that youths in the community were planning to attack. Some young indigenes are accusing the Vice Chancellor of being responsible for their regent’s abduction.

  1. I think silver always will be as good investment vehicle as gold. For obvious reasons, people tend to use gold as their favourite hedge against inflation but most of them leave "money in the table" by not investing in silver too.
