As part of efforts to achieve the UNAIDS’ three-part target, the 90-90-90 initiative that aims to end the AIDS epidemic in the world by 2030, the Lagos state government has embarked on a statewide screening process.

Starting with 36,000 Ikorodu residents, the Lagos State AIDS Control Agency (LSACA) will be focusing on Imota, Igbogbo/Baiyeku, Ijede, Ikorodu West and Ikorodu North Local Council Development Areas.

Head of LSACA, Dr. Oluseyi Temowo at the flagoff ceremony in Ajegunle/Ikorodu said the state government is “passionate about the health of Lagos residents”.

Recall that sometime in May 2017, the state received N3.84 billion ($9.6 million) from donor agency, Global Fund to fight the scourge of HIV/AIDS. At the time, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode promised that the grant would be put to full use and the prevalence of the disease in the state would be effectively reduced.
