A co-convener of the Bring Back our Girls (BBOG) campaign group, Aisha Yesufu on Monday said the body is not funded by anyone.
Yesufu made the disclaimer via her Twitter account in reaction to a photograph on the Internet advertising the establishment of a “Chibok Girls Endowment Fund”.
She wrote, “This just came to the attention of #BringBackOurGirls group. We are not in any way involved with this and ask the people to desist.
“What kind of human beings do we have in this world. #ChibokGirls are barely out and we hear of a group using #BringBackOurGirls?
“All of a sudden the hashtag #BringBackOurGirls is now good to be used by some who were silent. Why do people have such transactional mindset?
“21 #ChibokGirls need all hands on deck and everyone’s assistance but to use BBOG is not right and proper. BBOG do not solicit for funds.
“BBOG is a self funded movement. We refused to accept international and national funding from anyone. We have never and are not raising funds.”
