Nigerians were stunned last night when Tanzania’s Idris was announced as the winner of the Big Brother Africa Hotspot.

This is the second time since the inception of Big Brother Africa, that Tanzania will emerge winners of the most coveted prize money in the history of African reality TV show, BBA’s $300,000 (N50 million).

Tayo, Nigeria’s representative who according to the TV host, IK was always “real in the house” looked a bit lost when Idris was announced winner of the show but thankfully didn’t burst out in his usual show of tears as he moved aside giving Idris the chance to express his joy.

Nigerians are out rightly not happy with the result, they have cried foul…

Also, singer Davido threw a shade at Big Brother too.

Recall that he lost his own Channel O awards too… same organizers, different shows.

But Here’s the thing:

Idris was much loved, he was respectful and humble. Being the guy next door that he is, connected him more with the wider BBA audience – parents & women, and this reflected in how Africa voted, Idris earned 5 country votes (from Kenya, Namibia, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda, while Tayo only got 2 country votes (Nigeria and Mozambique).

We all wanted Tayo to win so bad, but the best man won.

Not to worry guys, Tayo will be alright….with some acting and endorsement deals here and there, he might even end up richer than Idris 🙂
