‘These attacks will continue’ | Boko Haram vows to keep bombing Shi’ite processions

Terrorist sect, Boko Haram has claimed responsibility for the suicide bombing on a Shi’ite Muslim procession in Dakasoye, Kano.

The Shi’ite procession is to mark Ashura, which commemorates the death of Hussein, the grandson of the Prophet Mohammed.

Over 20 people have been confirmed dead from the attack which affected mostly women and children on Friday.

Boko Haram, on Saturday, released a statement in Arabic on social media, saying that the sect’s bomber detonated the explosives which led to the death of the victims.

The statement said in part: “By the permission of Allah these attacks of ours against Shi’a polytheists will continue ‎until we cleanse the earth of their filth.”

One of the organisers of the march, Ali Kakaki told AFP that: “For now, we have 22 deaths following the death of one more person yesterday. Thirty-eight people have also been injured, two of whom have been discharged from the hospital.”

“Following the attack, many more of our members have joined the procession,” Kakaki added.

Boko Haram, a radical Sunni Muslim group, specifically targeted the procession as a result of its opposition to the type of Islam being practiced by the Shi’ites.
