According to Reuters, over 50 people have died from a bomb blast that occurred at a busy meat market in Maiduguri, in Borno state.
The reports says the explosion, which killed shoppers and travellers, went off around 1:00pm on Tuesday, June 2.
According to a military source, the bomb was hidden under a butcher’s table in the market.
A paramedic, Lawal Kawu, was quoted as revealing to Reuters that 31 burnt bodies have been evacuated to the teaching hospital in Maiduguri and several other people were brought in with severe injuries.
Abubakar Mohammed, a college student not far from the blast scene told Reuters that:”It shook our school building and I had to run away. I saw military vehicles with soldiers moving toward the area.”
