#Day2: Unilag students block entire University Road, march to Third Mainland Bridge

by Stanley AzuakolaThe protest at the University of Lagos over its renaming to Moshood Abiola University on Democracy day by President Goodluck Jonathan is showing no signs of abating. The students have mobilised once again this morning and have blocked the entire University Road.

No cars or bikes are being allowed to pass through the barricades mounted by the students from Abule Oja down to Bariga. Motorists are being asked to divert and take alternate routes. As a result there is heavy vehicular traffic in Abule Ijesa and environs.

Meanwhile thousands of protesting students are presently marching towards the Third Mainland Bridge. It’s unclear what they intend to do when they get there.

But the whole scheme seemed to have been well planned from yesterday with the students dividing themselves into groups and sharing responsibilities among the groups.

It would be recalled that some of the protesting students had told Ynaija yesterday that they are determined to continue in protest until President Jonathan rescinds his decision to rename the school.
