The Abuja family of the #BringBackOurGirls group has sent a letter of request to meet with President Goodluck Jonathan.

According to statement released by the group, the meeting his aimed at pressing home their demand for the rescue of over 219 Chibok girls believed to be held captive by the Boko Haram Islamic group.

Hundreds of female students were abducted by gunmen from the Government Girls’ Secondary School, Chibok in April.

The statement which was signed by the group’s media coordinator, Rotimi Olawale reads in part: “The objective of our March to the Villa is to convey the urgency for the immediate rescue of our girls and to hear directly from our President and the Commander in Chief of our Armed Forces the accurate status of the rescue effort for our Chibok Girls, whose 6 months period in captivity remains a source of deep anguish to their parents, Nigerians and people all of the world who believe in our shared humanity.

“The last 180 days have been one of dashed hopes, intense pain, and confusion for the families due to the lack of accurate information from the Government on the current status of the rescue operation. The march will be joined by some of the parents of the abducted girls, as we continue to stand in solidarity with the abducted 219 girls and their families,” the statement reads.

Members of the group plans to march to the Presidential Villa and later meet with President Jonathan to convey their demands.
