Investigations into petitions written against the ministerial nominees of President Muhammadu Buhari, is expected to commence soon.
Thus far, not less than 25 petitions have been submitted to the Senate against the nominees.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, also received copies of the petitions.
Consequently, the EFCC will begin the process of looking into the petitions sent to the National Assembly on Monday, October 12.
Punch reports that the leadership of the EFCC arrived at the decision last week, after the Senate leadership reportedly reached out to the anti-graft agency for assistance.
The EFCC is expected to scrutinize the petitions and ascertain if they have merit, or otherwise, and then, advise the Senate on the appropriate course of action.
A source was quoted to have said: “The office would start looking into the petitions written against the ministerial nominees on Monday.
“The National Assembly contacted the commission on the issue and the decision is to start looking at such petitions on Monday.”
