Senate President, Bukola Saraki, claims that some politicians have distributed ‘money and other materials’ to facilitate protests marches and demonstrations against him in Lagos, Abuja and Ilorin, as from Monday.
Saraki said the the politicians are using his trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal as the impetus to rile the public against him.
Special Adviser to Saraki on Media and Publicity, Yusuph Olaniyonu, stated this in a statement he issued in Abuja.
“As part of their plan, they are already distributing money and other materials to some faceless civil society organisations, market men and women associations and other shadowy groups with a view to instigate demonstrations in Lagos, Abuja and Ilorin from Monday, April 11.”
“They believe that the on-going trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal provides them the opportunity to stampede Saraki out of office so that their defeated objective of getting their lackey into the office of Senate President will be realised.”
The statement added that the ongoing trial at the CCT, was just starting and that the prosecution’s witness had just started giving evidence, while Saraki was yet to be cross-examined by the defence team.
