#ChibokGirls: Why Switzerland helped Nigeria – Spokesperson

Spokesperson of Switzerland Foreign Ministry, Noemie Charton, said Switzerland took part in negotiations that secured the release of 82 girls kidnapped by the insurgent group, Boko Haram.

It would be recalled that 82 out of the over 200 girls kidnapped in 2014 have been released and after meeting Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari, more details emerge.

Nigeria thanked Switzerland, the International Committee of the Red Cross as well as local and international NGOs for helping secure the release of the girls.

“Switzerland’s commitment is motivated by humanitarian concerns.

“Switzerland’s engagement in this operation was guided by the principles of strict neutrality and non-interference,” Charton said.

Another report is that Otto, who claims his company, TGS Consulting, is involved in the negotiations says that the prisoners are influential commanders of the insurgent group.
