Nigeria’s condition today causes disquiet and anxiety to whomever
has something to do with Nigeria. Frustrations are undermining the
happiness of our homes. The cost of terrorism, bitterness and fear
skyrockets daily as corruption becomes the order of the day.
Are we truly looking for a remedy that can cure Nigeria and Nigerians problems and give hope of speedy and fulfilling recovery?
The panacea to our problems lies in our return to those simple but
ageless home truths such as love, honesty, purity and unselfishness
that some of us learned at our mother’s knee and which many of us have
neglected or forgotten. Nigeria’s crisis is fundamentally a moral one
and we all have a part to play to steer this ship – Nigeria aright.
What we desperately need is not constitutional amendment or national conference
but, a moral re-armament. It is the only initiative of change that
will produce God-guided personalities, which make God-guided
nationalities. No political or economic reform can solve our problems,
but moral re-armament will.
If you do a study on corruption, terrorism and other vices stagnating
our nation’s progress, you will agree with me that the root
cause of our problems is moral laxity. Nigerians are very religious people
but, we do not have strong moral backbone. We must arise and say
enough is enough to our moral lukewarmness. Moral recovery is the
forerunner of holistic recovery in any sector of our nation. This will
create peace, unity and progress in all regions of our country
Nigeria.
We need a new order under the leadership of God, making for better
human relationships, unselfish co-operations, legitimate businesses, healthier environment,
better livelihood, cleaner politics, elimination of industrial,
religious or racial antagonisms.
Our hope for a better Nigeria rests in the transformation of hearts.
National betterment can only come through lives-betterment. Upon a
foundation of transformed lives, the betterment of our country is
assured. Without transformed lives, Nigeria cannot endure and overcome
its challenges because national progress comes as a fruit of transformed lives.
The present day Nigeria needs a true rebirth. Nigerians! We must be ablaze
for national transformation which starts with individual
transformation. All we need do is to re-arm morally by being good
citizens who are honest, pure, unselfish and loving,
A moral re-armament will restore our nation’s security, safety and
sanity. Now is the best time for us to build a better Nigeria. We can,
we will and we must generate a moral force that is powerful enough to
remake Nigeria to be exemplary to other nations of the world. Nigeria
is our own; let us join hands and make it work.
