Does Hushpuppi need to prove his source of income?

Hushpuppi

Hushpuppi challenged Phyno to prove that his wrist watches are original, promising to reward him with 5 million naira.

The war of words between the socialite and artistes on social media has followed various proportions, with Hushpuppi at the centre of the heat. The Malaysian-based ‘celebrity’ had made the comment that artistes who wished that their works should not be pirated should desist from purchasing pirated items and showing them off as brands. He’s been hit back at by other artistes and other people on social media, but all of the attention seems to be doing his reputation no bad at all.

Unless, with good reason, someone begins to seriously question his source of money.

Hushpuppi has established himself on Nigerian social media as the Gucci guru, donning various luxury items from the famed designer, from shoes to bags. His flamboyant expressions of the designer’s expensive items are perceived as an expression of his wealth and an apparent manner of shutting his detractors up.

For those who follow his matter, the source of Hushpuppi’s wealth has been a long-running question which remains unanswered. In his response, Ice Prince asked him to get off his laptop screen and get in a booth, apparently referring to the belief that Hushpuppi is into some form of fraudulent financial schemes. It is a theory many Nigerians have easily subscribed to, even calling for him to be prosecuted by the EFCC.

Hush (we really are tired of typing the whole name) has pictured himself lying in bed with some wads of cash. He apparently spent 3 million on drinks in one sitting at a Lagos nightclub. It amounts to an outlandish lifestyle which, for one whose source of income is not identifiable, should be disturbing.

Floyd Mayweather Jnr could come across as annoying with his way of displaying his wealth but we all know he can box. Hushpuppi has the size but there is not much guarantee of the muscle underneath the Gucci. Even Bobrisky who has come out to defend him, has a known source of income in ‘bae’, however ludicrous it appears. For Monsieur Hush, how do we get to know what the fellow does for his money?
