The Department of State Security, has for the third time, found a way to go around a bail order for Sambo Dasuki, former National Security Adviser.
Operatives of the DSS re-arrested Dasuki on Wednesday, at the gate of the Kuje Prison, Abuja, while heading out of the prison premises after meeting the bail conditions set for him by a Federal Capital Territory High Court, Abuja.
Dasuki’s lawyer, Ahmed Raji (SAN), disclosed to Punch Newspapers that the former NSA had met all the bail conditions given by Justice Peter Affem, pointing out that the security agency chose to disobey the order.
He was quoted to have said: “That’s correct, he was re-arrested by the operatives of the DSS and whisked away to an unknown destination. He met the bail conditions set for him by the judge, but as he was stepping outside the prison, he was arrested.”
Raji said the actions of the security agents was an affront to the rule of law under
democracy.
He appealed to the authorities of the security agents and the federal government to respect court order and allow Dasuki to enjoy the bail granted him by a law court of the country.
