The Federal Government on Thursday, said it was ready to pay civil servants their death benefits, promotion arrears and other outstanding debts in the tune of N300 billion.
This was contained in a statement by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Winifred Ekanem Oyo-Ita during the activities marking the 2016 Civil Service Week Celebration in Abuja.
Oyo-Ita revealed that Government would pay the outstanding debts to Federal Civil Servants in phases, particularly those bordering on promotion arrears, repatriation allowances and death benefits, among others.
According to her, these outstanding debts amounts to about N293bn.
Oyo-Ita said President Muhammadu Buhari had directed the Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun and the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation to explore ways of making the payments.
