MIN.ng offers a diverse and growing array of categories of products ranging from locally-made furniture, clothing, shoes, food items, and machinery, to raw materials such as leather, fabric, and soon-to-be added eco-friendly household items and gifts. The list is not endless, but we see no limit to what we can offer.
The real story of today’s vibrant Nigerian economy will soon be witnessed through the diversity of its products.
We love and respect our globally-known business leaders and our great corporations but so much of what Nigeria is truly about today still needs to be discovered, and at MIN. ng we believe that the best way to tell the story of innovation, invention, and the power of a new generation of entrepreneurs is to celebrate what we are making. Every sale of every Nigerian-made product is a tangible step toward a re-definition of our national identity and the power of a Nigeria that sees itself at the forefront of a dynamic, emerging Africa.
Min.ng was inspired by the great potential of Nigerian-owned businesses who should not have to struggle with the challenges of market access, low marketing budgets, and individual promotions. We believe by bringing together great products made locally under one platform, we would be able to promote not only products but a greater Made in Nigeria movement.
With a domestic market of 170 million, our economy of scale already exists. What the market needs is logistics, payment solutions, good technology, honest but original marketing, and some innovative communications. We have also identified select, key sectors well adapted for export to both international customers and our global diaspora. Our partnership with an international logistics company gives us the edge above any other e-commerce platform in Nigeria. This partnership enables us to deliver to over 15,000 communities which we see as a means of building a viable business model, reinforcing the confidence of customers, and expanding the outreach of our home-grown Nigerian producers. E-commerce in Nigeria has come a long way, but we are not there yet. One big challenge is convincing buyers to pay online instead of paying on delivery. To address some of their concerns and build trust, we developed a trustworthy escrow service. We believe that positive experiences will lead to repeat business. And as our network of products grow, and customer confidence grows, MIN.ng will grow too.
There are also other challenges which come with building a business in this part of the world, but challenges are merely invitations to be more creative, to work harder, to think creatively, and to be an inspired DOER in the world. We are just too excited about the opportunity to help boost Nigeria’s new economy and to stimulate the diversity of our commercial talent, one sale at a time, to worry about the headlines about low commodity prices, a weak naira, and recession. MIN.ng is not experiencing a recession; we are on the move, and we are carrying lots of local producers, artists, and entrepreneurs with us. `
Entrepreneurs are not discouraged by bad news. The current economic situation has in fact given us an amazing opportunity to grow. There is now more demand for Made in Nigeria products than ever. We are seeing visible growth on a monthly basis. More people are coming to terms with the fact that Made in Nigeria is not synonymous with low quality. Quite the opposite. We believe Made in Nigeria will emerge as a table of excellence. You will be amazed at the quality and ingenuity of products that come out of Nigeria. The present economic situation has prompted our businesses to look inwards, focus on their strengths, and to jump on the opportunity to grow. This is the market we serve. Our plan is to be to Nigeria what “Alibaba” is to China and Amazon is to the US, except this is Made in Nigeria. And opportunity is our source of motivation.
More young people, women, students, artists, start-ups, SMEs, dreamers, and ambitious entrepreneurs from all 36 states now have their own platform to sell and distribute locally-made products of quality. And all this while we help grow Nigeria’s balance of trade from deficit to surplus. Join us at www.Min.ng.
