Jonathan is free to visit anytime – Presidency

The Presidency has stated that former President, Goodluck Jonathan, is free to visit the Presidential Villa, in Abuja, whenever he desires.

It was reported on Monday, that Jonathan held a rather brief private meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari, at the Aso Rock villa.

The meeting was the second time Jonathan would be visiting Buhari since he left office on May 29.

After the sit-down, which reportedly lasted for about 10 minutes, the pair emerged and refused to speak to reporters on the topic of discussion.

Jonathan, who recently served as leader of the Commonwealth Election Observer Group in Tanzania, arrived at about 2.00pm and left at 2.13pm.

Reacting to widespread speculation regarding the purpose of the brief visit, the Presidency failed to douse the speculations.

Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President, Femi Adesina told Vanguard, that Jonathan had the right to visit his former residence.

Adesina was quoted to have said: “He has the right to visit the villa anytime as a former president.”
